Is there a reason to get this over the tesla gen 3 wall charger?

Answer:

One of the main reasons you should consider the Pulsar Plus centers around whether you think you will ever need to charge a non-Tesla EV. While Tesla provides owners with an adapter to allow Teslas to connect to chargers with a standard J1772 connector, adapters to go the other direction (from a Tesla connector to a J1772) can run $100-$200.

Question:

Is it possible to hardwire using the hole in the back of the unit so the pipes will be hidden? So, the hole where the original cord was will be open?

Answer:

Aesthetics and install method were a large part of my choosing this unit. It works out pretty well using the rear port for install when mounting on a stud. I used a hole saw around the same size, then the wiring can fish along the stud.

 

Question:

Does this tell how many kwh used for each charge?

Answer:

It does give you that but the software is still screwed up. It appears to be a work in progress. Anything you do today will show up after the charge is completed and you unplug the car. Then it shows up in the system with the day before a date. I have been back and fourth with them on this issue. I still like it

I have a 2017 Chevy Volt 

 

Question:

Is the cord flexible when when cold? And, when is the hard wired 48 Amp available?

Answer:

The cable is stiffer in the cold for sure, but it's still plenty flexible to be easily maneuverable with only one hand -- the hand that's holding the plug. If your wall box is near your car's charging port and you don't have to constantly spool/unspool the cord, I doubt you will even notice the increased stiffness.
